This is an introductory course that will provide foundational information regarding symptoms of religious trauma and spiritual abuse and clinical interventions to use with clients, utilizing both lecture and experiential exercises to support the learning objectives.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Increase knowledge of the history and methods of high-control groups

• Describe how religious trauma affects clients developmentally across the life span

• Summarize key treatments for those with a history of religious trauma, including their mechanisms of action, benefits, and potential side effects
